With a marketing career that spans over thirty years, Larry Mogelonsky has accumulated a wealth of experiences: from shampoo and toothpaste; salty snacks to disposable diapers; and luxury resorts to real estate. An accomplished business-owner, writer, and speaker, Larry is a successful hospitality operations and marketing specialist.
Larry’s background includes civil engineering plus brand management at Procter & Gamble and Pepsico Foods International. This packaged goods experience was transformed when he commenced work for Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, launching their Chicago property, as well as, marketing for their East Coast and Canadian properties.
Larry founded LMA Communications Inc. some 25 years ago. Over that time, his team at LMA has worked with many independent properties including members of Preferred Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Leading Hotels of the World, and Relais & Chateaux. That business was sold and Larry now works one-on-one with property owners to help them with their businesses.
Having worked with hundreds of independent properties, it was a natural progression to reflect upon this extensive experience through the written and spoken word. Over the past four years, Larry has published 750+ articles in: Hotels Magazine, Hotels Online, HotelNewsNow, Hotel Executive, eHotelier, Hotel Interactive, HospitalityNet, Today’s Hotelier, and Canadian Lodging News. Every Friday, his newsletter, aptly named Hotel Mogel, reaches 4,500+ hotel executives and senior managers.
In addition to periodicals, Larry has written four books addressing operational and marketing issues for hoteliers. Entitled, Are You an Ostrich or a Llama?, Llama Rules, Hotel Llama, and the Llama is Inn, over 5,000 copies have been sold. All four texts are currently available through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Larry has been keynote speaker at worldwide industry conferences including: BTO Italia, Hawai‘i Lodging & Tourism Association, Visit Florida Governor’s Conference, Cornell Hotel Research Symposium, HVS East, Hospitality Day Italy, ITB, as well as numerous corporate and property events. His talks motivate audiences through his vision, with creative reinforcement focused on satisfying guest needs.
Along with many local awards, LMA has been recognized by HSMAI (Hotel Sales and Marketing Association International) with over 80 business-building awards, including its prestigious Platinum distinction. The Agency was also named Worldwide e-Marketer of the Year by TravelClick. Larry has been recognized by HSMAI as one of the ‘Top 25 Minds in Hospitality.’
Larry serves on the Boards of several hospitality technology startup ventures. Larry lives in Toronto.
He holds an MBA from McMaster University, an Honors Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Concordia University and is a registered professional engineer.
